Jec grew up in a horse training family in Vermont and studied dressage throughout Europe before settling in California. About 15 years ago, she realized that many riding challenges stemmed from horses struggling with strength, coordination, and mobility due to poor body use. As horse training became overly specialized and complex, she saw the need for simple, effective tools to help horses move better. This led her to write 101 Dressage Exercises for Horse and Rider in 2005, which was endorsed by the United States Dressage Federation. Three more books followed, translated worldwide and trusted for improving equine movement and fitness. You will need a horse, a safe enclosed area such as an arena or flat open space, and either basic tack or a halter and lead rope if performing the exercises in-hand.
